Much press has been given to the results of a recent 6-month Kaiser Permanente weight loss study finding that participants who kept a food diary lost more than twice as much as participants who did not. Weight Watchers has been proving this for years, but it must be an idea whose time has come! That’s an impressive number- think about it, TWICE as much! Big impact. If you want to lose weight, you’d be crazy to ignore the prospect of losing it 2x faster by simply keeping a food diary.
What can you learn? Take the “write it down” advice and apply it to your calendar. Do you think you might be twice as successful at getting things done if you wrote them down? Would it give you a reason to truly pay attention to what you are doing as the hours tick by? What about marketing- would writing down your marketing plan and goals make you more likely to add clients? You know that I believe it would.
Each time I coach planning, time management & time blocks, there is someone who just can’t quite believe that the technique can have a profound impact on their ability to create the work/life balance they desire. When I find supporting data, I’m encouraged all over again. The potential gain is too great to ignore.
Bottomline - Write it down! Pay attention! Keep track! You WILL see results.
Now I’m going to have a lot of irrelevant search engine noise related to weight loss, but I think it’s worth it…
Note: my free Get Clients Now! marketing seminar for new lawyers still has a couple of spots open, check it out here.
Barbara, I’ve already sent an e-mail to you about the great day I had after our time blocking session. I wrote down a reasonable amount of client work and office management work, stuck to the plan, and had such a productive day that I moved some things up from Wednesday to Tuesday (and got them done, too). However, I did not lose any weight at all. What am I doing wrong?

Odd, most people do lose weight once they become more organized in other areas of their lives… Successfully Solo offers a comprehensive money back promise, unfortunately, we don’t cover weight loss or hair loss. As a last resort, try blocking time for exercise, and see where that takes you. Best wishes, Barbara
